The Cedars Christian Eagles single-A senior girls volleyball team returned from Tumbler Ridge Saturday night as the 2011 North Central champions.
The Eagles defeated Mackenzie in straight sets, 3-0, in the final to capture the crown. Cedars will represent the zone at the provincial championship Dec. 1 to 3 being hosted by the Chetwynd Cavaliers at the University of Northern British Columbia and College of New Caledonia in Prince George. The Cavaliers claimed the bronze medal, defeating the Fort St. James Falcons for the the third time this season. Chetwynd goes to the provincial championship as host, while Mackenzie will face off against the second-place team from the North West zone to determine the final berth.
Chetwynd and Fort St. James finished on top of their respective pools after round-round play Friday. In the elimination round, the Cavaliers defeated Tumbler Ridge, while the Eagles dispatched of Burns Lake. The Falcons and Mackenzie knocked out Valemount and Hudson Hope.
