Myranda Dickson cleaned up at the horse barns.
"I won pretty much everything I entered, it was awesome," said the 12 year old, relaxing at the Prince George Agriplex on Sunday while the dressage portion of the 2012 North Central B.C. Cadora Dressage, Hack and Jumping Show wrapped up.
In the jumping competition Dickson was the top junior jumper and she placed first in all four of her dressage tests. For the Grade 7 student at Pineview elementary school placing fourth or better in the dressage events was important, as Dickson is attempting to qualify for the Zone 8 team at the B.C. Summer Games in Surrey, July 19-22.
"I think I got it," she smiled.
Dickson won't know for sure until the end of June when the Horse Council of B.C. makes its final decisions. The deadline for riders entering qualifying times is Friday.
Two other Prince George riders are also trying to qualify for the Summer Games in the youth category, Ekaterina Filatov (jumping) and Maeghan Forster (dressage).
Though she prefers horse jumping to dressage, Dickson said she knows the limitations of herself and her 14-year-old gelding Prince.
"I actually don't really like dressage," she said. "But, I have to be jumping a metre to qualify for the summer games. My little pony can't jump that high and I'm not ready to jump that height yet, so I'm just going to stick to dressage which I'm OK with."
The highest jump Dickson and Prince have made was in practice at two-feet-nine-inches, equaling 0.6096 metres.
Dickson said competing in dressage gives her experience she can carryover to jumping when it comes to working on her positioning and the size of her circles. Plus, she has plenty of incentive to qualify for the Surrey games.
"The experience and there's free stuff," said Dickson. "I like free stuff."
She received some free bling Friday when she and Prince won the individual glitter class where each rider has eight minutes to decorate their horse with glitter and anything else they can carry into the ring, before trotting around to show off their masterpiece.
"I won a $250 Pandora necklace with matching earrings," she said about the prize donated by Michael's Jewelers. "I was super-excited about that."
There were more than 80 horses competing in the NCBC competition at the P.G. Agriplex, June 8-10.
