The Prince George Spruce Kings have signed a forward with major junior hockey experience.
Alexis Cournoyer, a 2003-born centre, is slated to the Kings for the upcoming B.C. Hockey League season.
Cournoyer, a native of Sorel-Tracy, Que., played last season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the Saint John Sea Dogs and in 67 games he collected 13 goals and 15 assists. He also contributed one assist in five playoff games.
Cournoyer played in 2021-22 in the Maritime Junior (A) Hockey League for the Grand Falls Rapids and put up seven goals and 16 assists for 23 points in 29 games.
“We expect Alexis to fill some of the void left behind from our graduating players, especially at the centre position,” said head coach Alex Evin. “We were impressed with his personality and character and his desire to win. Alexis will be a great fit within our organization both on and off the ice.”
Listed at six-foot-one, 172 pounds, Cournoyer turns 20 on Sept. 19.
