Prince George Cougars defenceman Ethan Sampson and centre Chase Wheatcroft have been selected to the Western Hockey League’s B.C. Division First All-Star Team.
The 19-year-old Sampson averaged a point per game in his fourth and most productive WHL season. The Delta native, drafted last summer in the sixth round by the Philadelphia Flyers, collected 18 goals and 42 assists in 60 games this season.
The Cougar captain scored 10 power-play goals, tops among WHL defencemen, and has the career mark of 19 power-play goals for Cougar defencemen.
Sampson joined the Cougars in 2018 when he drafted by the Cougars in the third round, 65th overall.
Wheatcroft, 20, joined the Cougars last summer in a trade from the Winnipeg ICE and put up a career season, totaling 47 goals and 60 assists to finish second in the WHL scoring race with 107 points.
His 22 power-play goals set a team record and led the entire Canadian Hockey League. Wheatcroft also led the Cougars with seven game-winning goals, three overtime goals and 271 shots on goal.
Earlier this month the native of Calgary signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Dallas Stars.
