Cougars trade forward prospect Nolan Chatsko to Everett

The Prince George Cougars have traded 17-year-old forward Nolan Chastko to the Everett SIlvertips for a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.

Just as they embark on their longest roadtrip of the season, the Prince George Cougars completed a trade Monday.

They sent 2005-born forward Nolan Chastko to the Everett Silvertips for a conditional pick in the 2005 WHL Prospects Draft.

Chastko, a native of Brandon, Man., signed with the Cougars in February 2022 after attending training camp the previous summer. The 17-year-old is currently playing n the Manitoba Junior Hockey League for the Virden Oil Capitals and has 10 goals and 14 assists in 29 games.

The Cougars are scheduled to play Tuesday in Kelowna, kicking off a seven-game trip that also stops in Lethbridge, Swift Current, Medicine Hat, Calgary, Red Deer and Edmonton.

The Cats will be back home on Saturday, Jan. 28 to take on the Prince Albert Raiders.

Coming off a 2-1 win over Everett Saturday at CN Centre, the Cougars (16-17-3-0) rank seventh in the Western Conference, six points ahead of the eight-place Kelowna Rockets (13-20-3-0). The top eight teams in each conference qualify for the playoffs.

The WHL trade deadline is on Tuesday.
