The Prince George Cougars ended their longest WHL road trip of the season with a 3-0 loss Saturday in Kamloops against the Blazers.
After returning to Prince George for the first time in two weeks, the Cougars traded 19-year-old forward Nick Buonassis to the Lethbridge Hurricanes for 18-year-old defencman Reid Jackson and a fifth-round pick in the 2012 bantam draft.
Buonassis played 211 career games for the Cougars, collecting 92 points (36 goals, 56 assists). This season he has contributed four points with 16 penalty minutes.
In Jackson, a Weyburn, Sask., product, the Cougars are getting a veteran of 57 games in the WHL who has tallied three goals, 21 assists and 74 penalty minutes.
The Cougars return to action Friday and Saturday when former P.G. goaltender Ty Rimmer and the Tri-City Americans (7-4) visit CN Centre for a pair of games.
On the seven-game road trip, the Cougars (3-6-0-1) compiled a 2-5 record.
