Hudson Thornton celebrates the first of two goals Friday for the Prince George Cougars.

There’s no place like home for Hudson Thornton.

The Prince George defenceman has scored five goals in three games this week, including two more Friday night in a 5-2 win over the Spokane Chiefs at CN Centre.

Cole Dubinsky (a short-handed beauty), Viliam Kmec, and Ethan Samson also added goals. Ty Young earned his 13th win of the season, making 20 saves.

Thornton finds himself on the cusp of two team records. He’s six points back of Christian Chartier’s 22-year-old record for points in a season by a defenceman (68) and he’s two goals back of Dustin Byfuglien’s 18-year-old record for goals in a season by a defenceman (22).

He’ll resume his chase for those records tonight as he and his teammates return to the ice tonight to face the Spokane Chiefs at CN Centre.
