Cougars to get 15th pick in WHL draft

The Prince George Cougars will select 15th overall in the opening round of the 2021 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft.

The place was decided Wednesday in the league's draft lottery.

The Cougars will select 11th overall in the second round and all subsequent rounds.

The Spokane Chiefs won Wednesday’s draft lottery. The Tri-City Americans will pick second, the Brandon Wheat Kings have the third and fourth overall selections, after previous trades with the Victoria Royals and Moose Jaw Warriors. The Red Deer Rebels round out the top five.

The actual draft is set for December 9. Players eligible for the draft will be born in 2006 and reside in Western Canada, Western United States, Yukon and Northwest Territories.
