Chase Wheatcroft has been a spectacular addition to the Prince George Cougars this season since being acquired in an off-season trade for a fourth-round draft pick from the Winnipeg ICE.

After a four-goal, seven-assist outburst in four games, Chase Wheatcroft is the Western Hockey League’s player of the week.

The 20-year-old forward is on 13-game point streak with 11 goals and 15 assists over that span. In 50 games this season, Wheatcroft has collected 34 goals and 40 assists for 74 points and he’s now tied for third in the league scoring with Zach Benson of the Winnipeg ICE

Wheatcroft, a native of Calgary, was acquired by the Cougars in a June trade from Winnipeg in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft. The six-foot-two, 185-pound Calgary native was drafted into the WHL by the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

He’ll be in action Tuesday at CN Centre when the Cougars face the Saskatoon Blades in their only meeting this season.

The Cougars (24-22-4-0) rank sixth in the Western Conference, four points back of Everitt and Tri-City for fourth and fifth place. Saskatoon (34-13-3-1) sits third in the Eastern Conference.

Game time is 7 p.m.
