Colin Jacobs received a six-game suspension from the Western Hockey League on Monday for a hit to the head of Victoria Royals forward Luke Harrison in the Prince George Cougars 2-0 loss Friday at CN Centre.
The 19-year-old drove his forearm into Harrison's head during the second period. Jacobs sat out the rematch with the Royals on Saturday and will be eligible to return to the Cougars' lineup Saturday, Dec. 15 when the Vancouver Giants visit Prince George for a weekend doubleheader before the Christmas break.
Jacobs leads the Cougars in scoring with 10 goals and 23 points in 26 games.
Harrison is out indefinitely from the Royals' lineup with a concussion.
The Cougars (9-14-1-3) host Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick (4th overall) Morgan Rielly and the Moose Jaw Warriors (11-12-3-4) tonight, 7 p.m. at CN Centre. Rielly was one of 11 WHL players among the 37 players invited to the selection camp in Calgary, Dec. 11-13, for Canada's 2013 World Junior Hockey team.
The WJH tournament is in Russia this year and begins Boxing Day.
