The Prince George Cougars scored three unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes to torch the Kootenay Ice 6-3 Wednesday.

Taylor Makin's second goal of the season on a power play, 8:35 into the final period, put the Cats ahead for good and James Dobrowolski and Taylor Stefishen, with his first Western Hockey League goal into an empty net, provided the finishing touches. Stefishen joined the Cougars in Cranbrook after starting the season playing college hockey in the NCAA with the Ohio State Buckeyes. He also assisted on Dobrowolski's goal.

Spencer Asuchak, collected his team-leading fourth goal, and Charles Inglis, with his first as a Cougar, gave the Cats a 2-0 lead after one period. The Ice tied it in the second on goals from Drew Czerwonka and Joe Antilla. Troy Bourke of the Cougars and Max Reinhart of the Ice scored within 15 seconds of each other late in the period.

The win was the second straight on the road for the Cougars, who improved to 2-3-0-0, third in the West Division. Kootenay's Central Division record dropped to 2-2-0-0.

The win was the first for Cougars goalie James Priestner since Sept. 26, 2009. Brett Teskey took the loss in the Kootenay nets. Shots were 30-28 in favour of the Cats.

The Cougars resume their four-game Central Division tour Friday with a game against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. They also travel to Medicine Hat on Saturday, and visit Edmonton on Thanksgiving Monday.
