Prince George Cougars goaltender Tyler Brennan was named the top North American goaltender in NHL Central Scouting’s Midterm Rankings prior the 2022 NHL Draft.

Brennan, who hails from Winnipeg, has appeared in 17 games this season for the Cougars and posted a 5-11-0-1 record, including a pair of shutouts. So far this season, he has a 3.55 goals-against average and a .896 save percentage. Brennan was listed as a B-ranked prospect in NHL Central Scouting’s November rankings.

He was one of five Cougars to make the midterm rankings. Fellow goalie Ty Young is the 21st ranked North American netminder, and defencemen Viliam Kmec, Keaton Dowhaniuk and Hudson Thorton were ranked the 92nd, 136th and 211th North American skaters, respectively.

A total of 53 WHL players were named in the midterm rankings. The 2022 NHL Draft is schedule to take place in Montreal on July 7-8. NHL Central Scouting provides evaluation and scouting of draft-eligible players to NHL teams.
