The Condors will now turn their attentions to the fourth-ranked Argyle Pipers of North Vancouver when they meet on the court in Langley today at 1:30 p.m.
In other local results, the No. 15 Nechako Valley Viqueens took on No. 2 Walnut Grove in a late game Wednesday. The top-seeded Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers won their opener Wednesday, defeating Smithers 63-25.
Earlier this week at the junior boys provincial championship in Langley, the Duchess Park Condors finished with a 2-3 record, while the D.P. Todd Trojans went 0-5.
When the Kelly Road Roadrunners defeated the Nechako Valley Vikings last weekend in a two-game North Central zone double-A boys basketball playoff at Kelly Road secondary, they ended a seven-year drought for the right to represent their zone at a provincial tournament.
A story which appeared in Wednesday's Citizen contained incorrect information and failed to recognize the 2009 Kelly Road team which competed in the triple-A provincial championship. In the 2009 triple-A zone final, Kelly Road beat the North Peace Oscars of Fort St. John 91-51. The game started at PGSS gym and ended late the same day at College Heights secondary. The second venue was required after Roadrunners six-foot-nine post Kevan Madsen slammed the ball through the hoop with sufficient force to knock two bolts out of the backboard supporting the iron rim.
