Condors defeat Nechako Valley

The Duchess Park Condors racked up 442 yards of offence to demolish Nechako Valley 42-8 in a regular-season double-A match-up in the B.C. High School Northern Football League Friday night.

The Duchess Park Condors racked up 442 yards of offence to demolish Nechako Valley 42-8 in a regular-season double-A match-up in the B.C. High School Northern Football League Friday night.

The Condors passing game was slowed down by rainy weather at Masich Place, but rookie tailback Jacob Cundy and Eric Lamothe each rushed for more than 100 yards.

Cundy rumbled for 130 yards on seven carries, scoring two touchdowns, while Lamothe scrambled nine times for 111 yards.

Quarterback Rylan Matters was three-for-five in the air with 81 yards and also scored a major. He also carried the ball five times for 42 yards and a touchdown.

Fullback TJ Kyriakos rushed for 27 yards on three carries, including a touchdown.

Defensively, outside linebacker Mitchell Schulz had 12 tackles including two quarterback sacks.

Kyriakos, Caleb Cruse, Cody Cruse and Zack Bundock all had great defensive games.

Duchess Park tackles College Heights on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. at Masich Place.

Games slated for the high school field this Friday include a battle between College Heights and Kelly Road at 5 p.m., followed by at contest between PGSS and Nechako Valley at 7 p.m.
