The College Heights Cougars are high school tennis city champions.
The Cougars wrapped up the team title Tuesday afternoon at the Prince George Tennis Club, taking the trophy with 79 points. The Prince George Polars and Kelly Road Roadrunners ended the three-team event tied for second, each with 74 points.
Jessica Nycolat of College Heights captured the girls singles crown, defeating Stasha Telford of PGSS four games to two in the final. Mika Tillmanns of Kelly Road beat Sasha Shurack of PGSS 4-1 in the bronze-medal match.
In the semifinals, Nycolat beat Shurack 4-0, while Telford doubled Tillmanns 4-2.
In the boys singles tournament, Evan Crobar of PGSS claimed gold with a 4-0 victory over Aiden Quartly of Kelly Road, while Quinten Astorino of College Heights beat Kelly Road's Rychel Lamber for bronze. The score of that match was unavailable.
Crobar topped Astorino in a tiebreaker 4-3 (7-4) in the semifinals and Quartly defeated Lamber 4-3 (8-6).
In the all-College Heights girls doubles final, Jasmine Cutler teamed up with Nycolat in the gold-medal match for a 4-1 win over Alycia Madsen/Brooke Eberherr. Telford/Ava Wedel of PGSS scored a 4-2 win over Tillmanns/Lauryn Needham of Kelly Road in the bronze battle.
In boys doubles, Crobar/Brennan Bott/Aiden Reeves of PGSS defeated Lamber/Lucas Gairns of Kelly Road 4-0 for gold, while Astorino/Nolan Minck of College Heights beat the Kelly Road team of Quartly/Justin Parker Nolan 4-3 (7-5) to win bronze.
