After being eliminated from title contention in the quarterfinals, the College Heights Cougars finished off their season found their winning stride again at the junior boy provincial championship in West Kelowna.
The Cougars No. 1 squad rallied around the consistent passing of all-star setter Graham Walkey to defeat Walnut Grove 25-21, 25-21 in a Saturday playoff to finish fifth in the 24-team tournament.
That came on the heels of a 2-0 (25-20, 25-20) playoff win over Jaffray.
The Cougars No. 1 team ended up with a 6-1 match record. Their only defeat came in the quarterfinals Friday when they lost in straight sets to MEI Eagles, the eventual bronze medalists.
Langley Fundamental defeated Langley Christian 3-1 (25-14, 25-23, 16-25, 25-19) in the gold-medal match.
In other Prince George results, the Duchess Park Condors placed 18th after falling 2-1 (25-19, 17-25, 12-15) to George Elliot in a playoff match. The Condors finished with a 3-4 record.
College Heights No. 2 also ended the tournament at 3-4 following a win over Saint Georges to place 19th overall.
The D.P. Todd Trojans were 23rd with a 1-5 record, ending with a straight-set (0-25, 0-25) loss to Constable Neil Bruce.
