Co-Ed soccer tournament kicking into action

The arrival of snow and cold can only mean one thing -- it's time to play some soccer. When games can be contested inside the comfortable confines of the Northern Sport Centre fieldhouse, the weather conditions outside are irrelevant.

The arrival of snow and cold can only mean one thing -- it's time to play some soccer.

When games can be contested inside the comfortable confines of the Northern Sport Centre fieldhouse, the weather conditions outside are irrelevant. And, this weekend, the B.C. Indoor Soccer League will take advantage of the world-class facility on the UNBC campus when it holds its 11th annual Co-Ed Indoor Soccer Tournament.

Games start Friday night and will continue through Sunday. Five teams have registered in the Competitive Division and five more signed up to kick in the Recreational Division. Both finals are planned for 2:30 p.m.

Competitive Division teams are Conquest-Prestige Worldwide, Dementors, Playmakers, West Bromwich and the X-press. The Recreational Division features BCISL BoD's, The Fallen Classics, Grewal Group, Jugs & Thugs and Riverstone Bar & Grill.

During games, each team must have three men and three women on the field, excluding goalies.

The BCISL has been up and running since mid October. As well as a co-ed division, the league has three women's divisions, two men's divisions, a masters division and a grandmasters division.

Other BCISL events planned for this season are a Men's Over 30 and Women's Recreational tournament, Jan. 21-23, and a Men's and Women's Open tournament, March 11-13.
