On Monday, he was selected as the Western Hockey League player of the week. On Tuesday, Sena Acolatse accepted another honour, and this one was nationwide.

Acolatse, a 20-year-old defenceman for the Prince George Cougars, was named the Canadian Hockey League player of the week. From coast to coast, the CHL has 60 teams under its umbrella.

Acolatse was chosen for the CHL award after a week that saw him pile up 11 points in three games. During an Oct. 11 road contest against the Edmonton Oil Kings, he scored a goal and added two assists in an 8-7 overtime loss. On Oct. 15, he had three assists in a 5-2 home-ice win against the Prince Albert Raiders. Acolatse capped off his week by putting up five points against the Kamloops Blazers (two goals, three helpers) in an 8-1 Saturday win in Kamloops.

Acolatse is the first WHL player this season to get the nod as the CHL player of the week.

The Cougars, off to an impressive 5-4-1-0 start this season, will host the Brandon Wheat Kings (4-6-0-0) on Wednesday. Face-off is at 7 p.m. at CN Centre.
