After a weekend tournament in Penticton, the coaching staff of the Cariboo Cougars finalized the team's roster for the upcoming Major Midget League season. Head coach Trevor Sprague said the final five cuts -- which brought the hockey club down to the maximum 20 players -- were tough ones to make.

"The last 25 guys -- and five of them couldn't be here -- are pretty special players and pretty special people," Sprague said. "It gives you an idea of the depth that we had to pick from and the character guys that are there now."

On defence, the Cougars have Sam Brennan, Josh Connolly, Jared Crossan, Justin Duncan, Raymond Grewal and Colton Manning. The forward lines will feature Chase Astorino, Nathan Craft, Tanner Fjellstrom, Luke Gordon, Harjas Grewal, Brett Harris, Eli Jarvis, Levon Johnson, Seb Lloyd, Brian Roulston, Chase Witala and Tyson Witala. In goal, the 15- to 17-year-old Cats will rely on Jared Rathjen and David Readman.
