Ryan Howse invited to national junior development camp

Ryan Howse is one stride closer to realizing a boyhood dream.

Howse, an 18-year-old Prince George product, has been invited to attend the national junior team development camp in early August in St. John's, Nfld. The camp will be the first phase of a Hockey Canada process that will determine this country's final roster for the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship, slated for December and January in Buffalo, N.Y.

"It's pretty exciting," said Howse, who scored a team-record 47 goals for the Chilliwack Bruins this past Western Hockey League season. "Growing up, watching the world juniors every Christmas, I've always wanted to be the one who put on the Team Canada jersey and played for that. I used to go out and play in the backyard and I'd always be (on) Team Canada."

A total of 41 skaters received invitations to the camp. Four goaltenders will be announced later this month.
