Prince George biathletes Arthur Roots, Sarah Beaudry and Matt Neumann nailed down a podium position in their season-ending event at the Canadian biathlon championships in Valcartier, Que.

The three Caledonia Nordic Ski Club racers finished third in the senior mixed relay Sunday in 53:52.20, 3:33 off the winning pace of Alberta's Matt Strum, Emma Lunder and Christian Gow.

In the youth mixed relay, the all-Prince George team of Jarod Algra, Emily Dickson and Logan Sherba also won bronze, finishing behind Quebec and Alberta.

Neumann, 25, had a productive week at the national event. On Saturday he placed third in the men's 12.5 km mass start event, 11.5 seconds off the winning pace set by Gow, a member of Canada's World Cup team. Roots ended up seventh.

Neumann, who now lives in Canmore, Alta., was third in the pursuit on Thursday, a day after he ended up fourth in the sprint, missing just one target in the race.

Beaudry, 22, who just returned from the word championships, earned a silver medal in the women's 10 km pursuit and won bronze in the 7.5 km sprint. In the women's mass start event, Beaudry was fourth, 3:23 behind gold medalist Audrey Vaillancourt of Quebec. National team member Zina Kocher of Red Deer was second, 41.8 behind Vaillancourt, while Lunder paced third.

Dickson, 18, who competed in February for Canada at the world junior championships in Romania, was third in the youth women's pursuit, after posting a fourth-place finish in the sprint.

In the junior mixed relay, Bobby Kreitz and Mark Hartley of Prince George joined up with Tekarra Banser of Kelowna to finish fifth.

Prince George will host the 2017 Canadian biathlon championships at Otway Nordic Centre, Feb. 27-March 5, 2017.

Meanwhile, at the Haywood Ski Nationals in Whitehorse, Yukon, Kaia Andal of Prince George won the junior girls one-kilometre sprint B-final on Thursday. Andal posted a qualifying time of two minutes 32.09 seconds. Anna Goodwin of Hollyburn (Vancouver) won the top-six A-final.

The 17-year-old Andal is a B.C. cross-country ski team member who represents the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club. She is the lone Caledonia club racer entered in the Ski Nationals.

On Sunday, Andal finished 10th in the junior girls 5 km classic event, covering the course in 17:31.8, 1:04.8 behind gold medalist Natalie Hynes of Whitehorse.

Andal will have a training day Friday and is entered in the junior girls 20 km classic race on Saturday which wraps up the competition in Whitehorse.
