When Tara Green visits Las Vegas this weekend, she'll have a few records in mind.

As in world records.

Green, 24, is competing at the by-invitation-only Olympia Pro Powerlifting meet Saturday at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Olympia is one of the largest sporting shows in the world and is where Arnold Schwarzenegger made his name.

More than 150,000 people are expected to come through the doors to watch.

"I want to beat 574 pounds in squat, bench press 365 [pounds] and deadlift 525," said the Xconditioning athlete from Prince George who's competing in the 82.5-kilogram weight class. "I should be able to set world records in the squat, bench and total amount lifted."

And she's more than capable of achieving it.

At the city's first-ever Canadian Powerlifting League national championships at the Xconditioning gym in July, Green hoisted a total of 1,334 pounds in the single-ply meet (one-layer lifting suit).

She'll be among only five women and 30 men at Olympia and is the only Canadian competing in all three disciplines of squat, bench and deadlift.

"Squat has always been good, it's the best of my three," said Green, who trains four days a week, two hours at time. "I just want to improve. With the bench press I just have to keep it steady and under control. The deadlift is my weakest event."

Green earned her invite to Olympia after she set three junior world records at the Northern California Fit Expo in Santa Clara, Calif., in early July.

In June at the Western Canadian championships, she set a world record in the Canadian Powerlifting League with a 451-pound deadlift.

Since then she's worked on getting a little leaner and putting on more muscle.

"It's nice to have the time to train and this is the biggest meet I've been to," she said. "Olympia is run like a business and you're competing in front of such a big crowd."

She also has her sights set on a huge meet next spring. She's been invited to compete in the Arnold Sports Festival in March 2015 in Columbus, Ohio.

That's where she hopes to lift 650 pounds in the squat and bench 400 pounds.
