Beaudry No. 1 with a bullet

With the world youth biathlon competition just two weeks away in the Czech Republic, the timing was perfect for a tune-up race or two for Sarah Beaudry.

With the world youth biathlon competition just two weeks away in the Czech Republic, the timing was perfect for a tune-up race or two for Sarah Beaudry.

The Caledonia Nordic Ski Club member from Prince George had her radar working well on the range at Canmore Nordic Centre, but her skiing is what really pushed her to the top of the list at the North American Cup No. 3 races.

Snow and gusty conditions made for difficult conditions but Beaudry was first across the line in Saturday's youth sprint race, edging fellow B.C. team member Julia Ransom of Kelowna at the finish.

Beaudry was first into the range in Sunday's pursuit for the first of standing shooting rounds and maintained her lead the rest of the way to wrap up her second win of the weekend.

Arthur Roots of Prince George just missed out on a medal while racing up an age category in the youth class, finishing fourth in Saturday's sprint and fifth in the pursuit. Robbie Martin of Prince George, a junior-aged racer, took advantage of the trip to help him prepare for the Canada Winter Games later this month in Halifax.
