Beaudry cracks top-20 at worlds

Sarah Beaudry of Prince George cruised to a 15th-place finish Thursday in her opening race at the world junior biathlon championships in Minsk-Raubachi, Belarus.

Beaudry, 21, shot clean her first round and missed just one target in each of her next three shooting bouts to complete the 12.5-kilometre race in 32:20.7, 41 seconds off the winning pace of gold-medalist Yulina Zhauravok of Ukraine (37:54.1).

Beaudry, a member of the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club, will race for Canada today in the 7.5km junior women's sprint. On Sunday in Oslo, Norway, Beaudry and Megan Heinicke of Prince George helped Canada to an eighth-place finish in a World Cup relay race.
