B.C.'s ringette squad picked up its first win in the Canada Winter Games Monday.
The team defeated P.E.I. 7-4 in round-robin pool B play at the Coliseum to improve to 1-1. P.E.I. fell to 0-2.
B.C. skated out to a 6-1 lead in the first period on a hat trick by Brooklyn Hay and singles from Riley Pickrell, Angela Cichos and Danielle Wall.
Alysha Corrigan responded with P.E.I.'s goal.
Despite being outshot 28-12 in the first, P.E.I., after giving up another goal by Pickrell, rallied in the second period on goals by Ashley Hollis and a pair from captain Sidney Corrigan.
P.E.I. couldn't complete the comeback though and B.C. held on for the win.
Prince George forward Sydney Irving had three assists for Team B.C.
B.C. battles 1-1 Saskatchewan today at 9 a.m. and 3-0 Alberta at 2 p.m. to wrap up round-robin play.
P.E.I. takes on Nova Scotia at 11:30 a.m. and Saskatchewan at 4:30 p.m.
