The Prince George WIC Bantam Female Rep Cougars played a pair of exhibition games on the weekend in Kelowna, returning home with a win and loss.
In Saturday's opening game the Cougars (23-4-3) played a strong game against the Kelowna midget tier 1 Jr. Rockets, but lost 2-1 when the Rockets found the twine in the final two minutes.
Don Knoop, coach of the Cougars, said his team outplayed the midget Rockets, out shooting them 28-18, but couldn't find the back of the net.
"It's always tough to lose, but good competition is what we're after," said Knoop.
Sunday, the Cougars met the Kelowna bantam tier 1 Jr. Rockets, beating them 9-2 .
"A very strong game was played by all of the girls in the last of 2011," said Knoop, adding he and co-coach Stewart Malgunas are looking forward to getting back to action in 2012. "We're very pleased with the girls' development midway through the season."
The bantam female Cougars return to action in mid-January when they travel to Grande Prairie for a pair of exhibition games.
