The Prince George WIC bantam female rep Cougars continued to roll along, picking up a pair of shutout wins over Vernon on the weekend.
The Cougars (11-0-1) played in front of family and friends in Cariboo League action at Kin 1 for the first time, and gave them plenty to cheer for with a 13-0 win Saturday and a 11-0 win Sunday. Avery Quirling was in the Cougars' net for both wins.
Don Knoop, Cougars' coach, said the only good thing about the lopsided games is it helps players develop in areas they may have trouble with.
"Those kinds of games are always tough on both teams," said Knoop. "It's obviously difficult being on the losing end, but it's also hard for the winning side in that it's a balancing act between developing skills versus not embarrassing the opponent."
The Cougars are off this weekend to prepare for the Hayley Wickenheiser tournament in Burnaby Nov. 18 to 20.
"Hopefully, we'll return with gold medals," said Knoop.
