Sabrina Knoop and Ava Keis each had two points as the Prince George WIC Bantam Female Cougars advanced Wednesday morning to the championship game at the provincial tournament in Victoria.
The Cougars beat the Surrey Falcons 5-1 to retain an unbeaten 4-0 record at the tournament.
Don Knoop, coach of the Prince George team, said the girls had no trouble clipping the Falcons.
"It was sheer domination," said Knoop. "The girls stuck true and fast to team systems and it paid off."
Sabrina Knoop opened the scoring and then assisted on Grace Barlow's first-period goal as the Cougars went up 2-0. Before the period was over Kyrstn Franz gave the Prince George girls a 3-0 lead with a shorthanded marker.
The teams exchanged goals in the middle frame with the Falcons cutting the deficit to 3-1 before Kiana Wilkinson restored the Cougars three-goal advantage. Jayden Malgunas finished the scoring for the Cougars, while Avery Quirling was solid in the Cats' net.
Maddy Fjellstorm and Chantelle Beadman-Rolph also picked up assists.
The Cougars faced on old nemesis in the gold-medal game Wednesday night as the Terrace Kermodes (3-1-1) advanced to the final with a 3-2 win over North Shore.
"The girls are looking forward to the rematch," said coach Knoop, referring to the fact the Kermodes defeated the Cougars at the Prince George tournament earlier in the year. "It's great to see two northern teams in the provincial final."
Results from the championship game were unavailable at press time.
