They were rested and their opponent was road-weary. But, thanks to a couple of sub-par performances, the Farr Fabricating Cougars failed to pick up any points on home ice.

The bantam Tier 1 Cats lost a pair of Okanagan Mainline Amateur Hockey Association games to Kelowna last weekend. The Cougars fell 4-2 at the Elksentre on Saturday and 3-0 at CN Centre on Sunday. The visitors scored empty-net goals to clinch each victory.

"It wasn't our best weekend," said Farr Fab head coach Chris Bond. "Kelowna worked hard and they wanted it a bit more than we did and that was kind of the difference.

"Kelowna is a good match-up for us and with the travel they had to do, we should have gotten some points out of the weekend, that's for sure," he added. "We paid the price for indifferent play."

Bond said the Cougars took some "needless" penalties in both games and watched Kelowna take advantage on the power play.

The 13- and 14-year-old Cougars now have a 1-5 record in the OMAHA league. Their lone win came against Kelowna on Oct. 27. That day in Kelowna, the Cats skated to a 4-1 decision.

The Cats will continue their season this weekend when they head back to Kelowna to take on the undefeated Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy. Pursuit has gone 5-0 and has outscored its opponents 34-6.

"They are one of the best teams in Western Canada," Bond said. "For us, it's about finding our compete level again and working and leaving everything out there. The process is bigger than our results and this will be one of those weekends."
