Bandits, Stylers earn lacrosse wins

Due to the long weekend, there were only two games this week in the Prince George Senior Lacrosse Association.

The BX Pub Bandits stretched their lead over the idle College Heights Pub Assault for first place to six points Wednesday when they beat the Shooters Pub Devils 16-11. With the win, the Bandits now have a 7-1 record while the Devils fell to 2-6 with the loss. The Assault (4-2) have two games in hand on the Bandits.

Drew Doig led the Bandits in scoring against the Devils with five goals and two assists, giving him a league leading 55 points (28 goals). Cole Paciejewski chipped in with four goals and seven assists for the Bandits while Damon Calfa had eight points (four goals). The Devils had four goals from Scott Anderson, two goals from Colton Poulin, while Brett Dominus added a goal and four helpers.

The other game this week went Thursday in Quesnel where the hometown Crossfire did their best Toronto Maple Leafs impression and blew a two-period lead as the Twisted Cork/Regional Security Stylers scored four goals in the third period for a 12-11 win.

Andrew Schwab led the Stylers with six goals and one helper and Matt Rochon had six points including three goals. Dakota Murphy added three points for the Stylers. The Crossfire (1-6) were led by Chase Jaeger and Devon Whalen with two goals and two assists apiece, while Hunter Krebs added two goals.

The next game for the Stylers (3-2) is Monday at the Coliseum when they take on the Devils, followed by a second game Wednesday versus the Bandits. Both games start at 8 p.m. On Thursday, the Assault are in Quesnel to play the Crossfire before the defending champions travel to Vanderhoof for a game against the Devils on Saturday at 6 p.m.
