Bandits find success on the road

They defeated the Quesnel Employment Services Crossfire 12-7 to wrap up the regular season in the Prince George Senior Lacrosse Association.

Dan Martin contributed two goals and two assists and game star Dane Soares was a monster on defence for the Bandits, who finished the season with nine wins and three losses to clinch second place.

Crossfire leading scorer Bryston Waffle scored five goals and Dylan Cathcart picked up two goals and an assist.

Liam Miller was called upon to make 24 saves in the BX Pub nets, while Bob Mills turned aside 29 shots and assisted on three goals for the Crossfire (5-7), who finished third in the league standings.

The Crossfire and Bandits meet again Monday night at 8 to open the PGSLA playoffs in the first game of a best-of-five semifinal.

The other semifinal series pits the undefeated Westwood Pub Devils (12-0) against the fourth-place Northland Nissan Assault (3-9).

Eight teams, including the Devils and Bandits, are confirmed for the Prince George Senior Invitational tournament at the Kin Centre,

Aug. 7-9.

Also entered are the Armstrong Shamrocks and Kelowna Raiders (Thompson Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League); Port Moody Express and North Shore Indians (West Central Senior Lacrosse League); and the Calgary Irish and Airdrie Mohawks (Alberta Senior C Lacrosse League).
