It's a tall order ahead of Amanda Asay and Canada's women's baseball team.

After losing 3-1 to the United States Friday night at the Pan Am Games in Ajax, Ont., they will need back-to-back wins to clinch the tournament.

Already guaranteed of at least a bronze medal, Canada faces Venezuela today at 6:05 a.m. PDT in a must-win game. The winner advances to the gold-medal game against the U.S., starting at 9:05 a.m.

The Americans scored all three runs in the fourth inning off Canadian starter Jessica Berube.

Third baseman Michelle Snyder's base hit brought in two of those runs. Canada got one back the bottom of the seventh on Nicole Luchanski's second hit of the game but it was too little too late.

Marti Sementelli pitched the win, lasting six innings, and Sarah Hudek earned the save.

Asay, a 27-year-old from Prince George, was held to one ht in four at-bats as Canada's designated hitter.

It was Canada's first loss of the tournament. Canada (3-1) beat Venezuela 9-3 on Tuesday.
