It's early in the volleyball season, but the College Heights Cougars have staked their place as the boys team to beat in Prince George.
Cougars attacker Wayne Woyciehouski and his teammates earned the gold medal Saturday with a straight sets win over the invitational tournament hosts from Duchess Park.
"If feels really good just to get another one under the belt, improve are rank and just show everybody that we can keep winning," said Woyciehouski.
The 16-year-old was the all-star for the Cougars, spiking balls onto the Condors side of the net with ease in the 25-21, 25-14 win.
"In the second set, everything was clicking; we didn't make any errors and just walked through it," said Woyciehouski.
The Cougars are the defending zone champion.
In round-robin action, the Cougars A team didn't drop a set, beating Bulkley Valley, Cedars Christian and the Duchess Park black team, while the Condors gold team earned a place in the final after dispatching of Correlieu (Quesnel), Fort St. James and the Cougars B team.
The Kelly Road Roadrunners won the bronze medal defeating the Cedars Eagles 25-23, 25-21.
Liam Barwise was named to the all-star team for the Roadrunners, while the Eagles Kyle Nelson also earned the honour.
