The winning streak is over, but it didn't end without a battle.

The Prince George Cougars -- those first-place Prince George Cougars -- saw their four-game ride come to an end Friday at CN Centre with a 5-4 loss to the Seattle Thunderbirds.

The T-birds, who will stick around for tonight's rematch (7 p.m. puck drop), gave up the game's first goal and spent most of Friday scrambling from behind before forging into the lead. Seattle got three goals from Colin Jacobs, including the game-winner in the third period, to improve to 12-8-3-4.

Travis Bobbee and Tyler Alos had the other T-birds goals, and goaltender Calvin Pickard stopped 36 shots for the victory.

The Cougars (15-11-2-0) got a pair of goals from James Dobrowolski, who now has seven markers on the season. Brett Connolly and Nick Buonassis also connected and James Priestner blocked 28 shots.

The Cougars and T-birds traded goals until late in the second period, when Alos gave Seattle its first lead of the game. Dobrowolski tied things up early in the third period, but Jacobs' 13th of the season provided the difference.

The Cougars remained first in the B.C. Division, two points ahead of the Vancouver Giants and Kelowna Rockets.

The Rockets lost 3-2 Friday in Chilliwack. Prince George native Brandon Manning scored two goals to lead the Bruins. Brett Bullmer, a Prince George minor hockey product, collected both Kelowna goals. The Giants suffered a 4-3 defeat at home to the Calgary Hitmen.
