A pool full of medals

Given the number of medals earned on the weekend, it's not hard to wonder if the Prince George Barracudas should seek a sponsorship with a shipping company.

The city swim club not only saw three Barracudas records broken, and another 148 personal bests, the organizers of the Ice Classic event in Kamloops handed over 16 gold medals, 15 silver medals, and another 16 of the bronze variety.

Add in another 59 top-eight finishes, and the 31-member Barracudas contingent put on quite a show in finishing fifth in the team standings.

Danica Ludlow was part of two club-record performances, setting a new mark of 26.85 seconds in the girls 13-14-year-old 50-metre freestyle, then teaming with Haley Black, Jessa Wing and Patricia Fortier for a time of 1:56.57 in the 200m freestyle relay.

The boys 13-14-year-old 200m freestyle relay team of Saveli Yungman, Ethan Godden, Josiah Binnema and Harrison Lagzdin finished in a time of 1:51.10, another club record.

The Barracudas are taking two weeks off for Christmas and will resume training on Jan. 4, preparing for the Western Canadians, in February, and provincials, slated for March.
