B.C. Hydro is asking youth in Grades 4 to 12 to nominate a not-for-profit organization, community group or environmentally-focused school group to be their local community champion and be awarded up to $1,000 towards their programs.

A large marijuana grow operation was dismantled on Tuesday afternoon. The Prince George RCMP executed a search warrant on a residence located on the Bendixon Road. During the course of the investigation three adult males were arrested.

There has been a wholesale board and senior management change at the Prince George Metis Housing Society, and B.C. Housing has undertaken an internal review of the housing organization, The Citizen has learned.

A proposal to subdivide 2.8 hectares at 779 Foreman Road into three new lots was advanced to the public hearing stage during Monday night's city council meeting. Currently, a single-family dwelling is situated on the property's southeast corner.

The Prince George Council of Seniors needs more room. Addressing city council on Monday night, PGCOS manager Lola-Dawn Fennell said the group needs a home about twice the size of its current 2,000-square-foot location at 1055 Fifth Avenue downtown.

Two city councillors will be able to attend two meetings next month via teleconference. City council agreed to extend the courtesy to Coun. Cameron Stolz for the Feb. 1 regular meeting and to Coun. Garth Frizzell for the Feb. 10 budget meeting.

Police entered three rural residences Monday in the Beaverley area with search warrants in order to seize more than 3,000 marijuana plants in various stages of growth. The grow operations were sophisticated in structure.
