The worker who died early Thursday morning at Canfor's Plateau Mills near Vanderhoof was employed by the BID Group of Companies, doing contract work at the mill.

A man is dead due to an apparent workplace mishap at Canfor's Plateau Mills near Vanderhoof. "There was an industrial fatality at about 4 a.m.," said North District RCMP spokeswoman Const. Lesley Smith.

The man killed at Plateau Mills near Vanderhoof, early Thursday morning, has been identified as George Park, Jr. of Kamloops. Park was apparently killed by a falling gate that was not properly secured.

Police are calling on the public to help find a parolee on the run in Prince George. A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Daniel Raymond Heimbecker, 38.

A man bleeding heavily from a chainsaw accident was transported in the back of a police car to hospital Tuesday afternoon. Police became involved in the medical emergency after pulling over a vehicle on Highway 16 at Shelley Road.

WorkSafeBC is now on site at Lakeland Mills to determine what caused an explosion and fire there last Monday night. They were sent in when the RCMP concluded their initial investigation, ruling it a non-criminal incident.

A man accused of robbing a Prince George convenience store has been acquitted of the charge by a B.C. Supreme Court Justice, who found the man's confession was induced by the interviewing police officer rather than being voluntary.
