A man found guilty of charges related to a wild ride through the city's streets will get a chance to prove himself before a provincial court judge decides whether to sentence him to house arrest or time behind bars.

The Prince George RCMP have arrested a man wanted for failing to appear in court on property crime charges. Phillip Thompson Cooper, 51, was apprehended Wednesday evening when Mounties spotted him near the corner of Victoria Street and 17th Avenue.

Some believe charity should be reserved for close to home. A Prince George couple is living the opposite philosophy, that all people who can help should offer themselves to all people in need.

A truck and other items were stolen from the District of Fort St. James public works yard. RCMP said the thief entered the yard at 1555 Stones Bay Road on Wednesday, shortly before 6 a.m. and used a crow bar to break into the shop.

The Prince George RCMP are warning the public of a suspected thief targeting businesses and schools. "In some cases the suspect is stealing purses or other items of value," RCMP said.

An estimated $125,000 damage was wreaked when a fire broke out in the garage of a 2100-block MacDonald Avenue home Wednesday afternoon. Called to the scene at 2 p.m.
