Zero new test-positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Northern Health, provincial total hits 2,360

B.C. now has a total of 2,360 test-positive COVID-19 cases from this afternoon's (May 12) latest update from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix.

Henry announced Northern Health has no new recorded cases, which means the total stays at 57, after only seven were confirmed province-wide in the last 24 hours.

There are 51 recoveries in northern B.C.

There are 874 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), 1,124 in Fraser Health, 125 on Vancouver Island and 180 in the Interior Health region.

There are no new outbreaks in a long-term care facility. Currently, there are 19 active outbreaks in long-term facilities. A total of 19 outbreaks have been declared over, including the Lynn Valley Care Centre, which was one of the first major outbreaks. There are 295 residents affected and 187 staff.

Henry added there have been no new community outbreaks.

There has been one new death recorded in B.C. in the past 24 hours which brings the total to 131.

Officials say 1,832 have recovered from the virus and are no longer required to be in self-isolation. 

The Ministry of Health also announced a survey being conducted by the BC Centre for Disease Control about the province and its response to COVID-19.

Those wishing to take part will be helping officials as they ease restrictions while keeping people safe and especially those that are the most vulnerable. 

The survey is open until May 31 and is available online or by phone at 1-833-707-1900 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., seven days a week.
