A regional airline has some good news for frequent travellers.

Pacific Coastal Airlines (PCA) confirmed this week via social media it will return to the skies on June 1.

PCA initially suspended service on March 25 due to concerns surrounding COVID-19, which was later extended to May 31.

The company said there was a need to be "socially responsible during the state of emergency that was declared in our province."

While the airline will return to operation, officials note it will be with a reduced schedule with many enhanced safety practices to ensure the health and well-being of customers, staff and the communities they serve, the news release noted.

Under a normal schedule, PCA offers Prince George residents service to Victoria seven days a week, but YXS is not its initial list to return to service.

"Our intention is to help provide air service for essential service workers, move important goods and cargo, provide access for customers who need to travel for various medical appointments (unrelated to COVID-19) and continue to offer remote communities access to the essential service of air travel should they require it."

Officials say they will continue to update social media platforms with additions safety measures and details on their gradual return to scheduled service.
