More than 130 people from across the political spectrum packed a UNBC lecture theatre on Friday night for a rally against the harmonized sales tax that featured former B.C. premier Bill Vander Zalm as the keynote speaker.

The provincial government's goal is to collect $2 billion through the HST which works out to $500 for each British Columbian by Vander Zalm's calculation, or $2,000 for a family of four.

That may not amount to much for a Howe Street executive, "but for the average person in this province, I don't know how they're going to make it all meet."
