You can still adopt animals from Prince George’s SPCA during the COVID-19 pandemic! Here’s how

North Cariboo branch organize process for pets to find forever homes

Residents may be feeling lonely in self-isolation during this time of crisis, but that doesn’t mean finding a furry friend should be taken off the table.

The BC SPCA North Cariboo and District branch in Prince George has created a temporary process for people to adopt animals as the COVID-19 outbreak continues in the province, Canada and around the world.

As most people who’ve considered getting a pet before the pandemic began are likely to be self-isolated, the SPCA is hosting an online event for prospective owners to apply and adopt a new best friend.

The Lansdowne Road location is closed to the public in efforts to flatten the curve on coronavirus, so they’ve set up online pet profiles for residents to view.

According to a social media post, this allows necessary staff and volunteers, despite being very limited in these unusual times to keep caring for new animals at risk.

Currently, there are eight animals up for adoption at the North Cariboo and District branch (in the above pictures).

The SPCA has listed a few steps to take for its latest adoption event while in self-isolation:

  • Go to the branch’s website or Facebook page
  • Click on the profile link to any of the pets you’re interested in
  • Submit and adoption application

If staff approve your submission, the Prince George branch says they’ll contact you directly to set-up and appointment and come in to visit your potential pet.

For more information, you can visit the North Cariboo and District SPCA website.

As of this publication, there are five confirmed cases of COVID-19 in northern B.C.
