Wood first draws communities

Forests and range minister Pat Bell celebrated news Tuesday that seven B.C. municipalities -- Prince George among them -- have passed resolutions in support of encouraging greater use of wood on building projects within their boundaries.

Forests and range minister Pat Bell celebrated news Tuesday that seven B.C. municipalities -- Prince George among them -- have passed resolutions in support of encouraging greater use of wood on building projects within their boundaries.

The others are Quesnel, Campbell River, Castlegar, Squamish, Nakusp and Fruitvale.

On Feb. 1, Prince George city council passed a so-called wood first resolution to "support the ongoing development of (the city's) wood culture" through measures to promote greater use of wood in municipal buildings.
