Batten down the hatches. There’s a storm happening in Prince George.
Environment Canada has upgraded a severe thunderstorm watch, issued for Prince George at 4:41 p.m. Saturday, to a severe thunderstorm warning.
The weather agency is warning of a cluster of severe thunderstorms heading for the city and bringing strong wind gusts, heavy rain and possibly nickel-sized hailstones.
The potentially damaging storm, coming from west of Prince George, is moving at 40 kilometres per hour.
Take cover immediately and if you’re caught outside protect yourself from flying debris and hail, Environment Canada advises.
Sunday’s forecast calls for a mainly cloudy day with a 60 per cent chance of showers and the risk of a thunderstorm. The high should reach 18 C after a low tonight of 7 C.
More clouds are forecast for Monday with a high of !9 C expected and more rain is in store for Tuesday with a 60 per cent chance of showers and the high reaching 19 C.
The sun is expected to return Wednesday-Friday with highs ranging from 16 C Wednesday to 23 C on Thursday and 25 C on Friday.
