A 32-year-old man was arrested following the stabbing of a young woman early Saturday morning at a Mackenzie bar, North District RCMP Cst. Lesley Smith said.
Smith said the woman, 22, suffered a serious wound to her lower abdomen and a large gash to her upper thigh and was transported to hospital in Prince George where she underwent surgery.
"RCMP have determined that this was not a domestic situation" Smith said. "Police continue to speak with witnesses who were able to assist with the ongoing investigation".
The man is being held in custody pending an appearance in court Tuesday at the Prince George courthouse. The names of the suspect and the victim were not released.
