A Dawson Creek woman was sentenced Wednesday to 85 days in jail for leading police on a chase in a stolen pickup truck five days before.

Christina Louise Nellis, 34, was also sentenced to 60 days in jail for dangerous driving and possessing stolen property from a Dec. 5 incident in Dawson Creek.

She was also sentenced to 18 months probation, prohibited from driving for 18 months and assessed $600 in victim surcharges on the counts.

Nellis was arrested early Saturday morning after RCMP were called to a report of a suspicious vehicle between two businesses on Otway Road.

When Mounties tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver drove through two ditches and rammed the side of a police car before heading towards Miworth, according to Prince George RCMP.

Police did not pursue, but located the abandoned vehicle a few minutes later in a ditch. A police dog and handler were called in. Nellis was found hiding under a fallen tree and apprehended at about 5:20 a.m.

Checks on the vehicle found it to be stolen from Dawson Creek on December 5.

Two other suspects got away.
