A woman is facing a charge of arson causing damage to property in relation to a series of grass fires that broke out Monday near the junction of Highways 97 and 16.
Lydia Paradis, 49, was arrested and held in custody overnight before being released on a recognizance Tuesday afternoon.
The arrest was in connection with four grass fires Prince George Fire Rescue said were deliberately set, two at about 10 a.m. and another two just before 1 p.m. in the same area.
RCMP came to believe a woman riding a mobility aid scooter was responsible and at about 1:20 p.m. Paradis was arrested.
She could face more charges, RCMP said, as an investigation continues.
RCMP are continuing to investigate a similar incident on May 6 when firefighters dealt with seven grass fires in the VLA area and Hudson's Bay Slough area of the City.
