Wildfires close Ancient Forest-Chun T'oh Whudujut Provincial Park

Largest of two suspected to have been lightning caused

A pair of wildfires has forced closure of Ancient Forest-Chun T'oh Whudujut Provincial Park.

The closure came into effect Wednesday at 1 p.m. and remains in effect until further notice according to a public notice posted on the BC Parks website.

Two fires are burning in the park, according to the BC Wildfire Service. The park is located an hour east of Prince George on Highway 16.

One measured 10 hectares in size as of Wednesday morning and is suspected to have been lightning caused.  It was first discovered on Tuesday just before noon.

The other a much smaller 0.009 hectares as of Wednesday. Cause of the fire was not available.

Both were listed as out of control.
