Join the Prince George Naturalists Club as they make tracks into Livingstone Springs Jan. 28. It will be an easy snowshoe led by Sandra Kinsey with lots of pauses to identify animal tracks and whatever else comes along. Skis work as well as snowshoes, bring your lunch and dress warmly. Meet under the Spruceland Shopping Centre sign at 9 a.m.

Poker ride

The Prince George Snowmobile Club is hosting their annual Poker Ride at their clubhouse (12000 Scott Rd.) on Jan. 29. Registration is between 10 a.m. and noon. There are $500 in prizes to be won, with each hand costing $5 or 12 for $25. Riders can come out and enjoy the 50 kilometres of groomed trails or stick close to the clubhouse and still take part. Trail introduction

The Sons of Norway and Caledonia Nordic ski clubs host An Introduction to the Tabor Mountain Ski Trails at the Hickory Wing trailhead (five kilometres east of Tabor Mountain Resort) Jan. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Three or four trips of varying length will be led through the area and the club will provide a hot chili lunch. Winter carnival

The fourth annual Quesnel Winter Carnival takes place Feb. 4 at West Fraser Timber Park. Starting at 1 p.m., the city will celebrate all things winter with a wide variety of sports to try from skiing, snowshoeing, skating and even Frisbee golf. Kids can keep busy by bringing or creating on site their best headwear for the Crazy Toque contest.
