Wet snow is forecast to fall on Prince George starting this evening and continue through to Friday afternoon, delivering as much as 10 cm of the white stuff by the time all is said and done, according to Environment Canada.
"A low pressure system will develop over Southwestern Yukon this afternoon and will intensify as it tracks southward across the Central Interior tonight," Environment Canada said in a special weather statement issued this morning.
"With the temperature forecast to remain just above zero a wintery mix of rain and wet snow is expected. Snowfall accumulations are likely to vary widely however some areas could see amounts exceeding 10 cm.
"The associated cold front will push southward Friday afternoon accompanied by an abrupt shift to northerly winds.
"Precipitation will end as a colder air mass settles over the region."
The highs for Friday and Saturday are -4 and -5 C respectively then creeping back above freezing, to 1 and 3 on Sunday and Monday with a chance of showers on Sunday and snow or rain on Monday.
The high on Tuesday is forecast to be -3 with periods of snow and for Wednesday, -1 with a chance of flurries.
